CONSERVATION STATUS:
Threatened: The Vietnamese pot-bellied pig species is considered a Not Evaluated species by the International Union For Conservation Of Nature.
HABITAT:
Pot bellies are initially a people-bred breed, so they have no natural habitat. They are raised on farms, houses, or even in rice terraces in Vietnam.
DIET:
Pot belly pig food and dietary requirements consist of pig pellets low in protein, hay, fiber foods, or vegetables that do not contain starch.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Potbelly pigs are primarily seen in black, pink, white, and spotted skin colors. Their bellies are low-hanging, and their nose resembles a pug nose.
QUICK FACTS:
- A male pig is usually referred to as a boar, and a female is referred to as a gilt.
- These pigs are loud animals and snort loudly throughout the day to communicate.
